Barcelona's keys to beating Alavés, by Lobo Carrasco

Tactical preview examining Barcelona's need to recover offensive rhythm and intensity against Alavés after disappointing final stages in Paris and the Clásico.

Lobo Carrasco's tactical analysis of Barcelona's upcoming match against Alavés focuses on the critical importance of maintaining intensity in the final minutes of matches. Barcelona's recent performances in the Champions League against Paris and in the Clásico against Real Madrid were undermined by poor finishing in decisive moments, with Gerard Martín and Lamine Yamal missing chances that could have changed the outcome.

Alavés, managed by Quique Flores, will deploy a five-man defensive line and look to use Ángel Pérez as a wide threat to supply Lucas Boyé and Toni Martínez. The key tactical battle will centre on stopping Lamine's runs down the wing.

For Barcelona, Hansi Flick's 4-2-3-1 formation offers flexibility through positional interchanges that can confuse opposing defences. Carrasco advocates for Pedri to play more frequently ahead of Rodri to increase offensive fluidity and ball progression through the thirds. The emphasis is on Barcelona reconnecting with the high-tempo football that defines their style, both with and without possession, to return to winning ways.
