Sources: Leeds to push for quick Zaidu Sanusi deal ahead of January

Leeds plan a January move for Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi, 29, to avoid missing out when his contract expires next summer.

Leeds United are targeting Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi ahead of the January transfer window, according to sources. The 29-year-old Nigerian defender is out of contract at Porto next summer, and Leeds fear they will face competition from other clubs if they wait until the summer market. As a result, manager Daniel Farke's side plan to move quickly this winter rather than risk losing him on a free transfer or facing a bidding war.

Sanusi has been a key player for Porto this season despite his uncertain contract situation, making seven appearances across all competitions. He has impressed with a 63% duel-win rate and over 66% aerial duel success rate. The defender can play left-back or wing-back, offering the tactical flexibility Farke values. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has indicated that Farke expects significant backing from the 49ers ownership in January to strengthen key positions where Leeds currently lack depth.
