What Michael Carrick said when asked about lack of communication from Man United chiefs with fans

Carrick deflected questions about club communication with fans, saying he focuses only on improving results ahead of Chelsea.

Michael Carrick refused to be drawn on whether Manchester United's hierarchy should communicate better with supporters about the club's direction. United have won just two of 12 games this season and face Chelsea this afternoon, with Carrick's job under increasing pressure. While the manager has been scrutinised, fans have directed their anger at the club's owners and chiefs, chanting against them and booing players off the pitch last week.

When asked about improving communication with supporters, Carrick told TNT Sports: "If there's one thing I care about from outside these walls it's what the supporters are thinking and how they are feeling. That's all that matters to me because we're all in this together. We're all hungry and desperate."

Carick was given a stay of execution after Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada held crisis talks with United's owners on Monday, but another defeat at Stamford Bridge will push him closer to the exit. He signed a two-year deal in May but is already on the brink.
