Premier League boss challenges board to sack him amid deeper problems at club

Glasner demands freedom to make changes at Forest after falling into the relegation zone with one win in ten games, declaring the board must sack him if they won't back his plans.

Nottingham, former Forest manager Oliver Glasner has issued an ultimatum to the club's board following a 2-0 defeat to Brentford that has left them 19th in the Premier League with nine games played. Glasner, who joined in July, has won just once in ten games in all competitions and is the fifth manager appointed in less than three years.

Speaking after the loss, Glasner was direct about his demands: "There is no other way. And if I don't have the freedom, they have to sack me." He acknowledged that Forest's problems run deeper than managerial changes alone, noting that four managers have failed to turn things around since Steve Cooper's sacking in December 2023.

Glasner identified the team's physical intensity as the primary issue, pointing to Brentford's 61% success rate in ground duels. He stated he will make changes to his approach and expects the players to buy in, warning that "the sixth manager will follow" if the turnaround doesn't happen. Forest host Manchester City next Saturday before the international break.
