Nottingham Forest 'grateful' if Oliver Glasner can keep them in Premier League

Scout Bryan King says Glasner should be judged on keeping Forest in the Premier League, given the financial importance of top-flight status over cup wins.

Experienced scout Bryan King has given his assessment of Oliver Glasner's task at Nottingham Forest, emphasizing that Premier League survival should be the primary measure of success for the Austrian manager.

Glasner has endured a difficult start at the City Ground, winning just one of nine games across all competitions since his appointment. He was handed a lucrative three-year contract and is considered one of the most highly-paid managers in the Premier League, but results must improve quickly to avoid a second consecutive relegation battle.

King argues that maintaining top-flight status is worth far more than winning domestic cups or European competitions. Premier League clubs received £86.7m in broadcasting rights for the 2024-25 season alone, dwarfing the £2.1m Manchester City earned for winning the FA Cup last season. For a club like Forest, which finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League just two seasons ago, staying up guarantees the financial foundation needed to compete. "If a manager can guarantee it, then he's worth his weight in gold," King told Football Insider.
