Bottom club Sunderland to stick with manager Le Bris
Summarised by MatchPal
Despite winning just one of nine Premier League matches, Sunderland's board backs Le Bris to turn around their season.
Sunderland have made a poor start to the Premier League season, winning just one of their opening nine matches and losing 3-1 away to Coventry on Saturday. However, the club's board has confirmed its backing for manager Regis Le Bris, prioritising stability and collective responsibility as it seeks to improve results.
Le Bris joined Sunderland from Lorient in 2024 and secured promotion back to the Premier League in his first season, then guided the club to a seventh-place finish and Europa League qualification last year — the first time in 53 years the club had qualified for European competition. Sunderland host Chelsea on the Sunday before the international break and face Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday, having won two and drawn one of their league phase matches so far.
