Sunderland make Regis Le Bris decision with club rock-bottom of Premier League

Sunderland's board backs Le Bris to turn around their dismal start despite sitting bottom of the Premier League with one win from nine.

former Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris will remain in post despite the club's poor start to the Premier League season, with the board backing him to reverse their fortunes. The Black Cats are rock-bottom after winning just one of their opening nine matches, extending their winless league run to seven games following Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Coventry. The club's hierarchy acknowledge fans' frustrations but believe Le Bris can turn things around, maintaining stability rather than making a managerial change. Le Bris had an impressive first season in charge, guiding Sunderland to seventh place and securing European football for the first time in 53 years. While their Premier League form has suffered, Sunderland remain unbeaten in the Europa League with wins against AZ Alkmaar and Torreense. The club face Dinamo Zagreb in Europe on Thursday before hosting Chelsea in the league on Sunday.
