Newcastle footage shows Matthias Jaissle may have already lost the dressing room - verdict

Newcastle manager Jaissle blamed players for not following his game plan after the 1-0 Everton defeat, with fans booing and pressure mounting on the 38-year-old.

Newcastle United lost 1-0 to Everton on Monday, 2 November, leaving the Magpies 13th in the Premier League, four points above the relegation zone. Manager Matthias Jaissle has won just 42 per cent of his 12 games in charge, a significant drop from his 65-70 per cent win-rates at previous clubs.

The defeat was particularly frustrating for Jaissle, who criticised his players in the post-match press conference for failing to adhere to his tactical instructions. Newcastle managed only two shots on target at St James' Park. "There is big frustration and disappointment," Jaissle said. "We could not transfer what we saw in the week, training at a high level. Since the start of the game, not much was seen."

Fans made their displeasure clear, booing at both half-time and full-time. With pressure building and results not improving even after a five-game unbeaten run earlier in the season, Jaissle's position is under scrutiny. Bookmakers have him priced at 5/1 to be the next Premier League manager sacked, with only Michael Carrick and Pierre Sage ahead of him in the odds.
