West Ham were right to be ruthless with Nuno, but are they right about Scott Parker?

West Ham sacked Nuno after 13 months following a 3-1 loss to West Brom; Scott Parker is the reported replacement despite concerns about his track record.

West Ham dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach following Saturday's 3-1 defeat at West Brom. The Portuguese manager, who took over in late September after Graham Potter's departure, struggled to stabilise the club through their Premier League relegation and into the Championship.

With West Ham eighth in the Championship after 16 games—one quarter of the season—the club acted out of fear that their position would deteriorate further. Nuno's side have won six, drawn four and lost three, scoring the most goals in the division but conceding first in nine of their 16 games across all competitions. While some felt the timing harsh, West Ham's financial situation and need for immediate promotion made the change necessary.

Scott Parker has emerged as the frontrunner to replace him. The former West Ham player secured promotion with Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley in his first season at each club, though both Fulham and Burnley were immediately relegated afterwards.
