Michael Carrick reveals half-time team talk that may have saved his job

Carrick's half-time talk inspired United's comeback from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2, halting a nine-game winless run and easing pressure on the manager.

Manchester United staged a dramatic Champions League comeback at Old Trafford, overturning a 2-0 deficit to beat Roma 3-2 in a result that could prove pivotal for manager Michael Carrick's future.

The match began badly for United, with fan protests directed at the Glazer family preceding a poor first-half display. Matias Soule opened the scoring from an avoidable error before Donyell Malen doubled Roma's lead from the penalty spot, drawing loud boos at the interval.

Carrick's half-time team talk proved transformative. Bruno Fernandes converted a retaken penalty early in the second half, then Matheus Cunha scored twice late on to secure the win—though he was sent off moments after his second goal. The victory ended United's nine-game winless streak. Carrick praised his players' resilience and the supporters' backing, emphasizing the importance of the comeback for squad morale and belief.
