€25m gets player for Newcastle United – Magpies welcomed as destination

Strasbourg will sell winger Yassine for €25m next summer; Newcastle among seven clubs monitoring the 20-year-old.

Gessime Yassine has caught the attention of multiple Premier League clubs with four goals and four assists in nine Ligue 1 games this season. Strasbourg have set their asking price at €25m for the 20-year-old winger, though they intend to keep him until the end of the season before entertaining offers.

Newcastle, Chelsea, Brighton, Brentford, Sunderland, Everton and Nottingham Forest are all watching the youngster. Former Morocco international Salaheddine Bassir has publicly advised Yassine to consider his options carefully, suggesting that Brighton and Newcastle could offer better opportunities for development and playing time than Chelsea, despite the Blues' prestige and shared ownership structure with Strasbourg.

Yassine is contracted to Strasbourg until 2030, giving the French club security in their valuation. The question now is whether Newcastle or any of the other interested clubs will meet the €25m fee when the transfer window opens in summer.
