Pure logic: Frenkie de Jong is a defender

Öztürk argues de Jong's role at Barcelona is clear despite ongoing debate about his ideal position and output.

Frenkie de Jong has faced questions about his role since his Ajax days, with critics questioning whether he scores enough and takes sufficient risks. After 300 appearances for Barcelona, debate persists about his ideal position, despite de Jong himself understanding his function within the team.

Öztürk contends the midfielder's role is actually clear, and suggests it is unfair for de Jong to hear on television that he dribbles too much, scores too little, or makes too few risky passes. Öztürk notes de Jong is intelligent enough to understand why manager Hansi Flick makes tactical choices, such as selecting Rodri and Pedri in midfield, which naturally affects de Jong's opportunities.
