Terzic: "This is something more important than football"

La Liga will observe a minute's silence and pause play in the 9th minute across all top-flight matches to honour Tenerife player Jesús de Miguel, who died after a collision during a match.

Jesús de Miguel, a Tenerife player, died on Tuesday following a severe collision during a match against Owono the previous day. La Liga has organised tributes across all Primera División fixtures, including the Osasuna-Athletic clash at El Sadar, with a minute's silence before kick-off and play stopping in the 9th minute—de Miguel's shirt number—to remember him.

Athletic Club manager Edin Terzic was asked about the stoppage and whether it could affect a decisive moment in the match. He responded: "You're asking the coach sitting here, but I have to answer as a human being. First, heartfelt condolences to everyone who loved Jesús, to his family, his friends and all his teammates. I have no adequate words to describe what happened, and whatever La Liga decides I will understand and respect completely. This is something more important than football."
