'Be careful what you say' - Jamie Carragher warned by ex-Villa employee after he makes new Aston Villa claim

Unai Emery is set to sign a new contract at Aston Villa, with talks expected to be finalised next week, ending speculation about a potential move to Manchester United.

Unai Emery will sign a new contract at Aston Villa, with the Spaniard and chairman Nassef Sawiris hoping to finalise the deal next week. Emery confirmed on Friday that discussions are ongoing, stating his ambition is to maintain consistency and continue improving the club's project, including plans for a new stand and increased budget.

The news comes after pundit Jamie Carragher suggested Emery would be tempted by the Manchester United job, prompting Villa's chairman to threaten legal action. Carragher subsequently apologised, though he maintained that United are a bigger club than Villa. Former Villa scout Bryan King told Football Insider that Carragher should be careful with his criticism, noting that the comments went beyond standard punditry.

Emery has been Villa manager for over four years and has overseen a significant transformation at the club. Villa currently sit 10th in the Premier League, while Manchester United are 17th.
