Barcelona present at tribute to Jesús de Miguel in Tenerife

Barcelona and all La Liga clubs attended a tribute to Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, 30, who died Tuesday after a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono at the same stadium.

The Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium in Tenerife hosted a solemn tribute on Saturday to forward Jesús de Miguel, the 30-year-old Tenerife player who died on Tuesday following a fatal collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a match at the same venue. His funeral had taken place the previous Thursday in Navahermosa, Toledo.

The entire Tenerife club—president, board members, coaching staff and players—attended alongside the club's supporters. Barcelona was represented by members of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors, including president Juan Manuel Asensi and director Antonio Olmo. All La Liga clubs sent representatives, as did the Spanish Football Federation president Rafael Louzán and La Liga president Javier Tebas. Real Madrid's institutional relations director Emilio Butragueño and Real Betis counterpart Rafael Gordillo were also present.

UD Las Palmas, Tenerife's fellow Canary Islands club, sent a delegation led by president Miguel Ángel Ramírez, vice-president Nicolás Ortega and club ambassador Daniel Carnevali in a show of solidarity. After a minute of silence, the crowd chanted de Miguel's name as a video tribute to his career was shown on the stadium screen.
