Michael Carrick given more time at Man United and will be in charge for Chelsea game

Carrick stays on as Manchester United manager and will lead the team at Chelsea on Saturday despite a 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth.

Michael Carrick has been given more time as Manchester United manager after appearing destined for the sack following Sunday's 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth. The club's hierarchy made the decision to retain him, with Carrick present at Carrington on Monday and Tuesday as the club prepared for Saturday's fixture at Stamford Bridge.

United have failed to win any of their last eight games in all competitions, a run that seemed likely to end Carrick's tenure. However, after receiving support from fans at Old Trafford, who sang his name from the stands, the club legend has been afforded another opportunity to turn things around. The manager and players will now focus on preparing a response ahead of the Chelsea clash.
