Chelsea XI vs Liverpool: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Carabao Cup today

Chelsea will be without Joao Pedro due to a thigh injury that will sideline him for several weeks, with Danny Welbeck and Estevao expected to start in the Carabao Cup clash at Anfield.

Chelsea face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup fourth round at Anfield on Wednesday evening without star striker Joao Pedro, who suffered a thigh injury and will miss several weeks of action. Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed the absence at his pre-match press conference, stating "He has an injury of his thigh and he is going to be out for a few weeks."

Alonso will deploy Danny Welbeck and Estevao in attack, with Morgan Rogers returning to one of the twin No10 positions after an unsuccessful experiment playing up front against Tottenham. Mike Penders will continue in goal despite an error against Spurs, with Emi Martinez still unavailable. Romeo Lavia is expected to replace Jordan Henderson in midfield to give the veteran a rest.

Chelsea will also be without captain Reece James (knee surgery) and Jamie Gittens (ankle injury), though the latter is closing in on a return. Alonso has one eye on Saturday's Premier League visit of Manchester United and may rotate his squad accordingly.
