Xabi Alonso: "The Premier League is the objective"

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso says the Premier League is the priority after his side lost to Liverpool on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea were eliminated from the Carabao Cup after losing 6-5 on penalties to Liverpool following a 1-1 draw at Anfield. Manager Xabi Alonso told Sky Sports he was satisfied with his team's performance despite the defeat. "Each time it goes to penalties, someone thinks it's unfair to be eliminated," Alonso said. "The match was very even for both teams. Penalties mean anything can happen. They performed at a level good enough to compete at Anfield."

Alonso emphasized that the Premier League remains Chelsea's main objective and said his side must quickly recover mentally ahead of Saturday's match against Manchester United, which kicks off early.
