Jack Grealish's career is at stake – he can't let Everton down again

Grealish dropped for Everton's Carabao Cup win over Newcastle after an unauthorised absence from training, the latest in a pattern of disciplinary concerns during his loan spell.

Jack Grealish was axed from Everton's squad for Thursday's 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle, with manager David Moyes citing a breach of club discipline relating to an unauthorised absence from training. It is not an isolated incident: Grealish missed a recent Arsenal defeat through illness, and in December was pictured on a night out in London ending at a strip club at 4am after another Arsenal loss.

The 31-year-old Manchester City loanee was electric in his first spell at Everton last season, providing six assists in 20 Premier League games before a stress fracture ended his campaign early. Since returning for a second loan, he has failed to register a goal or assist in eight appearances. Moyes, who prides himself on maintaining strict discipline, refused to confirm whether Grealish would feature in Monday's Premier League trip to Newcastle.

Grealish is in the final year of his £300,000-a-week City contract and was said to have "fallen in love with the right shade of blue" when Everton brought him back. But his future remains uncertain if the off-field issues persist.
