Amorim before derby against Inter: "Zero envy for Chivu. Milan, we win and everything settles down"

Amorim addresses the derby ahead of Milan's clash with Inter, insisting he has no regrets about joining the Rossoneri despite their rebuilding phase.

Amorim will experience his first derby at San Siro as Milan manager, coming after a surprise defeat to Bologna. The Portuguese coach reflected on the unique nature of the Milan-Inter rivalry, drawing parallels to Portuguese football culture and emphasizing the special atmosphere of two great clubs sharing the same city.

Amorim dismissed any suggestion he should have joined Inter instead, stating he has "zero envy" for Chivu and is exactly where he wants to be. He acknowledged the challenge of rebuilding a squad in reconstruction, comparing it to his previous experience, and stressed his commitment to the project despite the difficulties. "If I marry an idea, I don't change it," he said, though he admitted there are mornings when he wonders if he could have chosen an easier path.

Regarding the Bologna loss, Amorim said the team lacked energy and made too many mistakes. While the Scudetto remains the objective, he recognized there is a gap between Milan and the league leaders. "Win the next match and everything calms down," he said, but emphasized the goal is to build something sustainable, not just win once and find themselves in the same situation the following year.
