Xabi Alonso makes Estevao prediction to excite Chelsea fans after addressing January transfer

Alonso rules out a January loan move for Estevao, insisting the Brazilian will play a key role for Chelsea this season despite limited minutes so far.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has dismissed speculation about a January loan departure for Estevao, confirming there have been no discussions about a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old Brazilian has struggled for game time this season, failing to start a Premier League match and finding himself on the bench during Wednesday's Carabao Cup penalty loss to Liverpool at Anfield. Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin had suggested a loan spell would benefit Estevao's development, but Alonso rejected that idea on Friday.

"No, no discussions about that," Alonso said when asked about a potential departure. The manager stressed that Estevao remains part of his plans, emphasizing the season is long and there will be opportunities ahead. "The season is long and there will be moments for everyone," Alonso explained. "It's a process for the team, for Este, for myself, but I'm sure that in the season he will have his games, his minutes." Alonso attributed the lack of minutes to context and timing rather than any concerns about the player's attitude or commitment, noting Estevao is still adapting after injury issues in his first year.
