Flick: "I really liked what I saw"

Flick celebrated his 100th Barcelona win in 131 matches, sixth title in two seasons, after a 6-1 victory over Alavés following defeats to PSG and Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick marked his 100th victory as Barcelona manager in 131 matches with a commanding 6-1 win over Alavés. The German coach has won six titles in just over two seasons at the club—two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups—a record that compares favourably to his predecessors: Luis Enrique (126 wins), Jack Greenwell (136), Pep Guardiola (139), and Helenio Herrera (142).

Flick was pleased with Barcelona's response after recent defeats to PSG (4-2) and Real Madrid (1-2). "I'm extremely satisfied. We dominated the first half and created chances by exploiting spaces. I really liked what I saw. We played well," he said. He praised his team's control against Alavés's defensive setup and their ability to attack the limited space available. Frenkie de Jong made his debut as a centre-back alongside debutant Brian Fariñas, with Flick noting defensive injuries forced the experiment. He also highlighted Lamine Yamal's recovery of confidence in one-on-one situations after the break.

Flick now turns attention to Champions League matches against Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid next week. He remains uncertain about the availability of Jules Koundé, Eric García, and Andreas Christensen, though Christensen is close to returning to group training.
