Manchester United board's 'private agreement' in Michael Carrick sack talks

Manchester United's board agreed privately to assess Carrick's position after the November international break, with the manager under pressure following a ninth match without a win.

Manchester United's hierarchy held crisis talks following defeats to Bournemouth and Chelsea, reportedly agreeing in private to evaluate manager Michael Carrick's future around the November international break if results don't improve.

United fell 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with Morgan Rogers opening the scoring before Lisandro Martinez's red card compounded the damage. The loss extended their winless run to nine matches, leaving them outside the relegation zone only on goal difference — a position the club hasn't occupied in 40 years, since November 1986 before Alex Ferguson's arrival.

Carick is expected to remain in charge for upcoming matches against Roma in the Champions League and Aston Villa in the league. Chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox attended the Chelsea match and will advise on potential successors, with Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann among those being considered. United sit four points from the top half and nine points off the top four.
