Oliver Glasner must build Nottingham Forest team around Daniel Munoz, his stats are telling

Glasner benched Munoz against Brentford despite his strong form; the Colombian created two chances in 45 minutes off the bench and outperformed starter Aina across key metrics.

Nottingham, former Forest manager Oliver Glasner made a puzzling tactical decision to start Ola Aina at right wing-back against Brentford on Saturday, leaving Daniel Munoz on the bench despite the Colombian's impressive recent performances. Forest lost 2-0, extending Glasner's poor run to just one win in nine Premier League games.

Munoz came on at half-time and immediately made an impact, creating two chances compared to Aina's one, completing 24 passes to Aina's 15, and recording four tackles to Aina's two. The 30-year-old also had four touches in Brentford's box versus Aina's zero. Munoz has been among Forest's standout performers this season, ranking highly in Premier League metrics for chances created per 90 (1.57), successful crosses per 90 (0.94), duels won per 90 (6.27) and tackles per 90 (3.29).

Munoz followed Glasner from Crystal Palace in the summer, where he became one of the world's best wing-backs, recording 11 goals and 15 assists in 109 games. With Glasner fighting to keep his job and Forest not competing in other competitions, the decision to bench Munoz appears increasingly indefensible.
