Gasperini before United-Roma: "Everyone has the right to dream. We are short in midfield"

Gasperini says Roma will treat Manchester United as the best version of themselves despite their current difficulties, while acknowledging his squad's midfield depth issues ahead of the Champions League clash.

former Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini held his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League fixture at Old Trafford, the fourth game of the league phase. Despite Manchester United's recent struggles in the league, Gasperini warned his team not to be distracted, emphasizing that United remain a strong side with world-class players in a hostile environment.

Gasperini acknowledged Roma's injury problems, with Pellegrini, Dybala and Koné all unavailable in midfield. "We are short in midfield," he said, though he expressed hope the absences are temporary. He praised his available players' readiness and noted that after the international break, the squad should be closer to full strength.

On Manchester United's poor form, Gasperini drew parallels to his own difficult spells, referencing his brief time at Inter. Midfielder Mats de Roon, also speaking to the press, praised Gasperini's tactical approach and said Roma are on an upward trajectory, growing in how they face elite opposition after their recent loss to Real Madrid.
