Politano: "I'd like other teammates to speak up, not just us Italians"

Politano criticised Napoli's performance after a 4-1 Champions League defeat to Porto, calling for more non-Italian players to speak publicly about the club's struggles.

Napoli suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday, prompting several players to speak out about the club's current crisis. Matteo Politano was particularly critical in an interview with Sky Sport, saying the team lacked determination and failed to interpret certain game situations correctly. He also expressed frustration that only Italian players were willing to face the media, calling on his non-Italian teammates to take responsibility publicly.

English midfielder and Danish forward Hojlund also gave interviews, with both expressing anger at the result and the team's defensive frailties. Hojlund disagreed with manager Allegri's assessment that the performance was good, stating the team did not play well and must stop conceding so many goals. All three players acknowledged that injuries are hampering the squad but insisted that every player, the coaching staff, and the club must conduct a thorough self-assessment.

Napoli face Serie A leaders Lazio on Sunday in what both sides will view as a crucial match.
