Newcastle make 'firm' Matthias Jaissle sack call after fans rage - expert

Newcastle's board are backing Matthias Jaissle despite fan frustration and a poor run of form, unwilling to admit their summer managerial decision was wrong.

Newcastle United have decided to stick with manager Matthias Jaissle despite growing discontent from supporters following back-to-back defeats to Everton and in the Premier League. The Magpies have won just one of their last five games and three of nine league matches this season.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the club's board remain committed to Jaissle, who replaced Eddie Howe in the summer. The board believe he can still turn things around and achieve the club's long-term ambitions, understanding that his task has been made harder by Howe's departure and significant player sales.

Brown explained that Newcastle are reluctant to make an immediate change because doing so would amount to admitting they made an error in their managerial appointment. While contingency plans exist and the board remain unimpressed with the current available manager options, Jaissle retains the full backing of the board for now.
