Pellegrini: "We have the personality to go out and win at Dortmund"

Pellegrini says Betis have the personality to win at Dortmund on Wednesday and chase a fourth straight Champions League victory to seal qualification.

former Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini addressed the club's Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday with confidence, saying his side have the character to pursue victory from the first minute. A fourth consecutive win would effectively secure their place in the next round and keep them in contention for a top-eight finish.

"We have to have the personality and conviction to go out and seek three points from the first play," Pellegrini said, indicating he will not abandon Betis's attacking philosophy against the German side. "We face a very good team tomorrow, but I believe they also face a very good team," he added.

Pellegrini noted that nine or ten points typically guarantees progression but wants to avoid complacency, saying "hopefully we qualify as high as possible, but we go step by step." He also defended winger Antony, whose form has dipped this season, citing physical issues and reaffirming his faith in the Brazilian. On his own contract renewal, Pellegrini declined to comment, saying it is not a pressing matter at present.
