Kai Rooney sends telling two-word message to Shea Lacey after Man United heroics

Kai Rooney praised academy teammate Shea Lacey after his match-winning cameo against Roma, where the 19-year-old provided two assists in United's 3-2 comeback.

Shea Lacey made an impact off the bench for Manchester United against Roma, coming on with 15 minutes remaining when the side trailed 2-1. The 19-year-old academy graduate provided assists for both Matheus Cunha goals as United stormed back to win 3-2, ending a run of 10 games without victory.

Kai Rooney, Wayne Rooney's son and a former youth teammate of Lacey's, publicly praised the performance on social media, commenting "the best" with heart emojis on Lacey's post-match message. Several United players also lauded Lacey's contribution, with Cunha writing "It shows how much I believe in you", Harry Maguire posting "Top class", and Bruno Fernandes adding "My kid".

Head coach Michael Carrick was equally impressed, highlighting not just Lacey's attacking play but his defensive work at right-back. "We love him to bits," Carrick said. "He's got that little glint in his eye, he plays with a bit of mischief." Lacey has now made six appearances this season and will hope to feature when United host Aston Villa on Sunday.
