"My mind was blown" – Journalist can't understand Aston Villa vs Barcelona moment

Rodri suffered a hamstring injury in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Aston Villa and was substituted at half-time; journalist noted the team gained more control without him.

Rodri was forced off at half-time during Barcelona's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa after experiencing leg discomfort. Medical examinations the following day confirmed a hamstring issue for the midfielder who joined from Manchester City in the summer.

Journalist Lluís Carreras highlighted an unusual tactical observation: Barcelona actually improved their control of the game after Rodri's departure. Speaking to Cadena SER, Carreras said the team pressed better and had more possession without their star midfielder, describing the situation as mind-blowing given Rodri's reputation as one of the best positional defensive midfielders in the game.

Carreras also noted that Aston Villa had successfully targeted Barcelona's midfield, with their pressing effectively shutting down both Pedri and Rodri. Despite the 3-0 scoreline, Emery's side performed better than the result suggested, exposing a potential weakness Barcelona will need to address.
