JJ Gabriel transfer truth as ex-Premier League striker arrives - Manchester United Academy Notebook

Real Madrid in advanced talks to sign Manchester United academy prospect JJ Gabriel; deal subject to FIFA minor transfer regulations.

JJ Gabriel's departure from Manchester United is nearing completion, with Real Madrid in pole position to sign the young striker. Gabriel has been training in Spain for six weeks after his camp requested to leave United. Club sources denied reports of a verbal agreement, but the transfer is believed to be at an advanced stage and subject to FIFA's strict regulations on minor transfers. Gabriel's family is understood to be confident they can navigate the regulatory requirements, suggesting the deal will likely be completed as a formality. However, United are expected to pursue legal action to secure a fair fee for his exit, meaning the situation will continue beyond any signing.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have strengthened their academy coaching staff with two significant appointments. Former Premier League striker Cameron Jerome has joined as an individual development coach with the Under-21s, bringing 163 career goals and extensive experience from clubs including Cardiff, Birmingham, Stoke, Crystal Palace and Norwich. Peter Sturgess, a world-leading foundation phase coaching expert in the FA Coaching Hall of Fame, has also come out of retirement to provide occasional coaching and mentoring.
