Allegri's harsh outburst after seventh defeat: the real issue is the transfer market

Allegri's position under scrutiny after seventh defeat in 14 games; Napoli faces crucial clash with Lazio on Sunday as potential turning point.

Napoli returned from Porto on Saturday afternoon, landing in Salerno due to Capodichino airport closure until December 1st. The squad headed to Castel Volturno training ground before dispersing home after six days on the road marked by defeats, tensions and internal friction. No training session was held; work resumes today ahead of the team entering a pre-match retreat at a hotel in Pozzuoli.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri's position is not currently under immediate threat despite seven defeats in 14 league matches, 14 points adrift of the title race and elimination from the Champions League playoff positions. However, Sunday's home fixture against Lazio—managed by former Napoli player Gattuso—looms as a critical juncture. Club president De Laurentiis's decision regarding Allegri's future will hinge on the result; another defeat would represent an eighth loss in 15 games and force a defining moment about the manager's tenure.

The turbulent atmosphere from Porto has exposed deep tensions within the squad. Amid mounting internal friction, public disputes and continued poor results, clarity and resolution between all parties—management, coaching staff and players—has become essential before the international break.
