Seville's stadium held an emotional tribute to Jesús de Miguel before their match against Alavés, with players wearing memorial shirts and a stoppage-time ovation in the ninth minute.

The Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium united in grief as Sevilla and Alavés paid tribute to Jesús de Miguel before their La Liga match. Players from both teams wore shirts in his memory while referee Luis Bestard placed flowers at the centre spot where the forward was struck. A respectful minute's silence was observed with players from both sides standing together, followed by sustained applause from the crowd.

In the ninth minute—de Miguel's shirt number—the match was stopped for another emotional ovation as a video of the player was shown on the stadium screens. The scoreboard displayed a black ribbon alongside his number. Alavés manager Luis García Plaza had anticipated the emotional nature of the tribute, saying beforehand: "We are all very saddened, it has been a shock for football. We have to compete and dedicate it to him. It will be a beautiful tribute, in such a beautiful stadium as Sevilla's."

De Miguel's name was honoured across all Spanish top-flight and second-division matches that day as the football community mourned the loss that had shaken the sport.
