What was decided in Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes' Man United peace talks

Carrick and Fernandes have resolved their dispute after peace talks; the captain is in line to return for Saturday's Chelsea match.

Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes have ended their public feud following formal talks at Carrington on Tuesday. Fernandes was dropped for Sunday's 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth after criticising Carrick's tactics following a Champions League loss to Como. Carrick responded by questioning his captain's work rate and leaving him on the bench throughout the Premier League loss, while supporters chanted the manager's name and booed the players.

After the defeat, Fernandes' Instagram account liked a post about pushing loyal people away. However, United's board backed Carrick to continue, and when the squad returned to training, the manager and captain held showdown talks and agreed to move forward. Fernandes, who also dealt with a family home burglary during the Como trip, has been described as returning to his "best version" in recent days.

With United eight games without a win and just one point above the relegation zone, Carrick will be hoping to have his captain and most influential player available and focused for Saturday's trip to Chelsea.
