James Maddison's expected replacement in Tottenham XI named - 'He looked a far better player'

Maddison forced off in second half of Chelsea win; Gallagher impressed as replacement and is expected to start against Crystal Palace.

James Maddison was substituted in the second half of Tottenham's 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday and is expected to miss action before the international break. Conor Gallagher replaced him and delivered an impressive performance, providing constant attacking threat and drawing the tackle that resulted in Cole Palmer's second yellow card. In 39 minutes, Gallagher completed a successful dribble, won two free-kicks, and dominated in duels, winning five of seven. He also had a late shot saved by Mike Penders.

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes Gallagher will take over Maddison's position, describing him as a different type of midfielder but potentially just as effective. King noted that Gallagher's display against Chelsea was his best in a month, saying "He looked a far better player against Chelsea than he has for the last month." Gallagher has scored twice in seven games this season and will look to impress manager Roberto De Zerbi when Tottenham face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
