Bruno Fernandes apology after Manchester United talks could shock Chelsea

Fernandes and Carrick resolved their dispute at Carrington this week; the midfielder returns to the starting XI against Chelsea after being benched for questioning tactics.

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United manager Michael Carrick held a clear-the-air meeting on Tuesday at Carrington after tensions arose over the midfielder's performance and conduct. Fernandes was an unused substitute in last weekend's match against Bournemouth following his public questioning of Carrick's tactical approach. The pair have now resolved their differences, with club sources noting Fernandes returning to his "best version" over the last 48 hours after a challenging week both on and off the pitch.

Fernandes is expected to return to the starting lineup for Saturday's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. His recent form has been inconsistent, with a particularly poor display against Como where he was described as moody and made tactical errors. He also drew criticism for liking a social media post perceived as a dig at the club following the Bournemouth game. The 32-year-old has struggled throughout the season, with limited goal involvements and a general regression in performances compared to his usual standards.

United have not won in eight games and face Chelsea as underdogs on Saturday. Fernandes will have the opportunity to demonstrate his commitment through his performance on the pitch, with supporters expecting a strong showing from the midfielder at Stamford Bridge.
