Carrick announces decision on Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes returns as captain for Saturday's Chelsea match after resolving a disciplinary dispute with manager Carrick over tactics.

Michael Carrick announced that Bruno Fernandes will captain Manchester United against Chelsea in Saturday's Premier League fixture (matchday 9), ending the midfielder's suspension. Fernandes missed last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth after criticizing Carrick's tactical approach following the 4-1 Champions League loss to Como. The pair met privately at Carrington this week and have resolved the situation, with both committed to moving forward. "Bruno is completely committed to the team and there is no problem. We move on," Carrick said in Thursday's press conference, emphasizing Fernandes' importance to the squad. United have not won in six weeks and face a crucial test against Chelsea; a defeat could accelerate Carrick's exit just five months into his two-year contract.
