Manchester United's capitulation at Chelsea paints picture of a club that barely exists

Manchester United lost 2-0 at Chelsea, with Morgan Rogers scoring after running unopposed through midfield; Lisandro Martínez was sent off for a needless foul.

Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in a performance that laid bare the club's current dysfunction. Morgan Rogers opened the scoring in the 48th minute after running straight through the centre of United's midfield without facing meaningful resistance, finding empty space where a structured defence should have been. The finish was clinical, a dink past goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The situation worsened when Lisandro Martínez was sent off for ramming his arm into Wesley Fofana's neck during a Chelsea corner, with the ball nowhere near the play. Cole Palmer converted the resulting penalty to make it 2-0.

Manager Michael Carrick faces mounting pressure, with the defeat compounded by a Carabao Cup exit and a poor position in the Champions League. The performance prompted analysis of the club's broader structural problems, with the ease of Chelsea's attacking play suggesting fundamental issues in United's organisation and cohesion.
