Manchester United make immediate decision on Michael Carrick's future after Chelsea defeat
Summarised by MatchPal
Manchester United's board has decided to retain Michael Carrick as head coach despite a 2-0 Chelsea defeat, with no change expected before the international break.
Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, with Lisandro Martinez sent off to leave the side down to ten men. Despite the loss and the club's worst start to a season since 1986/87, the United hierarchy has held summit talks and decided against making an immediate managerial change. Senior boardroom figures remain hopeful that Carrick can turn the club's fortunes around. Carrick is set to continue in charge for the Champions League home fixture against Roma, followed by a Premier League match against Aston Villa on November 8.
