'A lot of lies' - Man United captain Bruno Fernandes' X-rated rant about Michael Carrick talks

Fernandes denied reports of clear-the-air talks with Carrick after his earlier criticism of the manager's tactics.

Bruno Fernandes addressed speculation surrounding his relationship with Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick following the club's 3-2 Champions League comeback win over Roma. The captain denied media reports that he and Carrick had held clear-the-air talks after Fernandes criticised the manager's tactics two weeks prior. Fernandes was dropped for the Bournemouth defeat but returned to the starting XI against Chelsea.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Roma victory, Fernandes said: "It's been a lot of speculation in the media, a lot of lies around many things that happened in this club between me and the manager, like that we had clear-the-air talks. Nothing like that happened." He acknowledged that Carrick's decision to bench him against Chelsea was fair, stating the manager makes the decisions and he must accept them. Despite the recent friction, Fernandes expressed his continued belief in Carrick, the staff and the squad, vowing to win every game ahead.
