Bruno Fernandes breaks silence on his relationship with Carrick: "There have been many lies"

Bruno Fernandes clarified his relationship with manager Carrick after recent criticism, denying media speculation of a rift and reaffirming his support following United's 3-2 Champions League win over Roma.

Bruno Fernandes addressed the controversy surrounding his relationship with Manchester United manager Michael Carrick after the club's dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Roma in the Champions League. The Portuguese captain had previously questioned Carrick's tactical approach following a 4-1 defeat to Como, leading to his benching in the subsequent match against Bournemouth.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Roma win, Fernandes retracted his earlier criticism and clarified the situation. "It's been tough, there's been a lot of speculation in the media. Many lies about things that happened between Carrick and me. We cleared things up, and then he decided to leave me on the bench because I'm not performing," Fernandes said. "Everyone thought it was punishment for my words. If it was, it was fair. Whoever runs the team makes the decisions."

The midfielder emphasized that private conversations with Carrick had resolved any tension and that his commitment to the club remained unchanged. "It doesn't change the confidence I have in Carrick, the coaching staff and every player at this club. And it doesn't change my objective of winning every game ahead," he added. Fernandes scored a penalty and assisted Matheus Cunha's equalizer in the Roma comeback, a performance that temporarily eases pressure on Carrick's position.
