Simeone: "Luis's record is a gift from my players"

Simeone equalled Luis Aragonés' record for most La Liga wins as a manager after Atlético beat Levante 2-0 with goals from Grimaldo and Giuliano.

Diego Simeone's Atlético Madrid secured a 2-0 victory at Levante, with Grimaldo and Giuliano scoring to move the club to the top of La Liga pending Barcelona's result. The win saw Simeone equal Luis Aragonés' record for the most La Liga victories by an Atlético manager.

Simeone praised his team's performance, noting that Levante started well but Atlético grew into the match after an early save by Oblak. "We were superior in the second half and could have scored earlier," he said. Giuliano's second goal was particularly impressive, with Simeone highlighting the quality of the counterattack that led to it, orchestrated by Baena's vision.

When asked about equalling Aragonés' record, Simeone deflected credit to his players. "It's really a gift from so many footballers who have followed an incredible line of work," he said. "I feel it very little as my own — it belongs to all the players who have helped me be where I am. I'm grateful every day to be at Atleti because it's where I want to be."
