West Ham 'big sign' from 'discontented' players triggered Nuno sack - expert

Nuno sacked after back-to-back home defeats left West Ham sixth points off second place; Scott Parker reportedly set to take over.

West Ham have sacked manager Nuno Espirito Santo following consecutive home defeats that left the club eighth in the Championship, six points adrift of second-placed Swansea. The Portuguese manager failed to get the squad playing to their potential in recent weeks, with last weekend's loss to West Brom serving as the final straw. Majority owner Daniel Kretinsky made the decision to act before automatic promotion fell out of reach, with the team having won just two of their last six league games.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider that the squad had been "coasting" under Nuno's guidance and there was "discontent about the attitude in the squad". Ex-Tottenham scout Bryan King suggested that Scott Parker, a Championship promotion specialist, would be a sensible successor. Parker, who spent four seasons at West Ham as a player and became a firm favourite with supporters, is reportedly set to take charge.
