Thomas Frank the 'leading contender' for West Ham after Nuno sacked

Thomas Frank is the leading candidate to replace sacked manager Nuno at West Ham, with his Championship promotion experience at Brentford seen as ideal for their automatic promotion push.

West Ham sacked manager Nuno Espirito Santo on 3 November after a difficult run of form left the club eighth in the Championship, despite expectations of automatic promotion. The club has appointed Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville as temporary caretakers while searching for a permanent successor.

Thomas Frank has emerged as the leading contender for the role. The 52-year-old, who led Brentford to Championship promotion in 2021 and established them as a stable Premier League club, is highly regarded for his track record in the division. Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Frank's experience is exactly what the Hammers need to return to the top flight this season.

However, Frank is not the only candidate being considered, and his willingness to take the job remains uncertain. He has been out of management since leaving Tottenham in February and has worked as a pundit. Crystal Palace are also believed to be long-term admirers, and West Ham may need to move quickly to secure his signature before Premier League rivals do.
