Flick: "Raphinha was affected by what happened in Tenerife"

Flick praised Barcelona's defensive display in their Champions League win over Aston Villa, keeping a clean sheet, and clarified that Raphinha's reaction to his substitution was due to the Tenerife tragedy, not the change.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed satisfaction after his side's Champions League victory over Aston Villa, highlighting the team's defensive performance and clean sheet. "We defended well and we're happy with what we saw in defence," Flick said in his post-match press conference. "The last line played at an incredible level, they defended everything."

Flick also praised goalkeeper Joan Garcia and emphasized the importance of how the team responds to setbacks. "It's not about whether you make mistakes or lose, it's about how you react. The next move is always the most important," he explained.

Regarding Raphinha's apparent frustration when substituted, Flick clarified the winger was emotionally affected by the Tenerife tragedy rather than upset about being taken off. "Raphinha was affected by what happened in Tenerife, like all of us," Flick said. "We send our sincere condolences to the family, club and fans for this tragedy. I think this affected Raphinha personally." The manager added that Raphinha is in good form and will be an asset for Barcelona upon his return from the international break.
