'The intention was positive' - Glasner wanted to 'shake things up' with outburst

Glasner says his post-Brentford outburst was intended as a positive catalyst for change, not criticism of individuals, after Forest won once this season.

Nottingham, former Forest head coach Oliver Glasner has clarified his explosive post-match comments following the defeat at Brentford, which left the club 19th in the Premier League with just one win this season. Glasner told Sky Sports and in his press conference that he needed to "shake things up" and change his messaging to the players, as repeating the same narrative after four losses in five games was not working.

Glasner explained that his intention was positive and aimed at driving improvement, not attacking individuals. "The intention is positive. The intention is to change something and get better results, then we all have a better life," he said. He acknowledged that if problems are not pointed out, change cannot happen, and that his direct approach is how he believes relationships should work.

The head coach reported a good training week following the outburst and remains optimistic ahead of Saturday's match against Manchester City, saying the players are working hard and the team is "not far away" from the results they want.
