Oliver Glasner 'thrown under the bus' as Nottingham Forest stars slammed - expert

Glasner risks losing his job if Nottingham Forest players don't respond positively to his public criticism after the Brentford defeat.

Oliver Glasner has publicly demanded his Nottingham Forest players work harder and prove they are of the required standard following a 2-0 loss to Brentford. The manager's comments have raised concerns he could face the same fate as four predecessors sacked in the past year, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown warning that Glasner is taking a risk by speaking out publicly and could cause friction in the dressing room.

Brown told Football Insider that the players' response will be crucial to Glasner's future. While reports suggest the squad has reacted positively and is committed to improving, this remains to be proven on the pitch. Forest face Manchester City at the City Ground before the international break, a match Brown suggests could be pivotal for the manager's tenure.

The underlying issue is the quality of the playing squad itself. Brown noted that the same group of players has been responsible for four managerial sackings, and that many are not good enough for the club's ambitions. Goalscoring has been a particular weakness this season, and Forest are already planning to identify attacking additions, including a top-class striker, in the January transfer window.
