Sunderland told to 'clear the diary' amid Regis Le Bris sack latest - Finance guru

Financial expert Stefan Borson says Sunderland should prioritize the Premier League over Europa League to save manager Regis Le Bris, with the club currently bottom of the table.

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson has told Football Insider that Sunderland would benefit from dropping out of the Europa League to focus entirely on their Premier League survival battle.

The Black Cats sit bottom of the Premier League ahead of Sunday's home clash against Chelsea, while remaining 11th in the Europa League standings, three points from elimination. Borson believes the squad is too stretched competing on two fronts and that clearing the fixture list to focus on one Premier League game per week is what Sunderland need.

"I think they'll hold fire right now on Regis Le Bris," Borson said. "But I think in some ways, to clear the diary so that they've got one key Premier League game a week is probably what they need." The comments come amid reports that the club has already sounded out Thomas Frank as a potential replacement, suggesting contingency planning if Sunderland cannot escape the relegation zone.
