'Disaster' - Stefan Borson drops verdict on Sunderland sacking Regis Le Bris

Stefan Borson says Sunderland are right to back Le Bris despite bottom-of-table position, though relegation would be a 'disaster'.

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson has backed Sunderland's decision to retain manager Regis Le Bris despite the club sitting bottom of the Premier League after nine games. Borson told Football Insider that Le Bris deserves time to turn things around, noting that the manager achieved seventh place last season and that the squad is not the worst in the division.

Borson acknowledged that relegation would be a "disaster" and suggested the club may have been unprepared for the demands of competing in both the Premier League and Europa League simultaneously. He believes a reversion to form is likely and that sacking Le Bris would be a mistake given his previous accomplishments.

While Le Bris' position appears secure for now, the article notes that contingency plans may be in place, with Sunderland reportedly having concerns over potential alternatives.
