Flick's evolution

Opinion piece analysing Barcelona's loss at Camp Nou and Flick's tactical approach, arguing the manager must evolve his high-risk attacking style.

Barcelona's emphatic celebration of Real Madrid's victory at Camp Nou reveals the hunger built up over two and a half years of struggle. The article argues this reflects Barcelona's desperation rather than Madrid's dominance, noting that Barcelona still leads the league, has the top scorer and best defence.

The piece defends manager Hansi Flick, acknowledging he requested an experienced centre-back, left-back and top-level striker in the transfer window but received none. Flick is praised as the best thing to happen to Barcelona in a long time, having navigated financial fair play restrictions. However, the author argues Flick must evolve his winning model to become more competitive. Playing with an open defence is risky, as demonstrated in Champions League defeats to Madrid and PSG. The manager should rotate more intelligently rather than playing Rodri in minor matches only to rest him for major fixtures.
